General information

Studio MORIS HAMUTUK offers programming including news, magazine formats and music to all the inhabitants of East Timor, and refugees in both East and West Timor. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the post-conflict reconstruction and to reconciliation in East Timor through information. The direct objective of the project is to provide refugees and returnees with independent, objective, useful and credible information, in their own languages.

This information will help them make an informed choice about their immediate and long-term future. Its programmes are broadcast under the authority of UNTAET on Radio UNTAET. Studio MORIS HAMUTUK disseminates its programmes, free of cost, to other radio stations which broadcast them in the region. The programmes will be broadcast for one hour per day, with a repeat broadcast possible later the same day or early the next morning. The programme will employ three full-time local journalists in East Timor, the district reporters of Radio UNTAET in East Timor and three part-time journalists in West Timor.
