RADIO OKAPI IS 13 YEARS OLD!

Radio Okapi, which has the highest number of listeners in the Democratic Republic of Congo and one of the biggest francophone audiences in Africa, is celebrating its 13-year anniversary today, February 25, 2015. The radio is managed jointly by the United Nations and Fondation Hirondelle, which has been working for 10 years to make it sustainable. On the occasion of this anniversary, Fondation Hirondelle hopes that a solid institutional and financial base can be found for Radio Okapi to ensure its long-term existence.

ICTR/BUTARE – Rwanda tribunal has still to complete longest trial

The most complicated trial at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) is not finished. Although the Tribunal was due to close its doors at the end of 2014, the UN Security Council in December had to renew the mandate of certain judges to complete the longest trial in the history of international justice, which includes the only woman indicted by the ICTR, as well as five others.
