Central Equatoria State Legislative Assembly (CESLA) on Wednesday passed the Draft Transitional Constitution for its third reading next week.
Addressing the CESLA, the Speaker Naphtali Hassan Gale advised the Constitutional Committee to develop a document that will be fair for all the citizens, the business community and foreigners living in the state.
« This is our document. It is not the Speaker’s document; it is not the committee’s document. It is the document of the house, » Gale said.
« This constitution is going to stand out there representing Central Equatoria. Therefore, let us offer ourselves to do the best and come up with a very good document, » he added.
Gale says a good constitution will make the electorate in the state embrace it, own it and be proud of their elected legislators.
The draft constitution article 99 gives the state Governor powers to dismiss any county commissioners if involved in acts deemed a security threat to the county or its neighbors.
The CES draft constitution also gives the counties of the state the right to elect their County Commissioners.
