The event, which has as its theme "the urgency of journalism", will be held between 17 and 19 March 2022 in Tunis. La Fondation Hirondelle is a partner of this meeting. We are organising a panel on the issue of disinformation and participating in another one devoted to the media situation in Niger.
The 2nd Journalism Conference in Tunis is about to begin. Initially scheduled for 2020, the health crisis had forced two postponements of the event. The Tunisian capital is getting ready to host this session between 17 and 19 March 2022, on the theme "the urgency of journalism". This event, which will be held at the Cité de la Culture, is organised by the French association « Journalisme et Citoyenneté ».
La Fondation Hirondelle is one of the partners of this meeting, which brought together 500 journalists from 30 countries during its first edition in Tunisia in 2018. To contribute to the debates, we are organising a panel and participating in another one: the first one on the issue of disinformation, the second one focusing on the situation of the media in Niger.
Our panel is scheduled for Thursday 17 March between 10:45 and 11:30. It is a debate on disinformation. Called "What vaccine against fake news?", it will bring together Alhassanne Abdou-Mahamane, editor-in-chief of Studio Kalangou (our programme in Niger) with Julie Godignon, Covid-19 programme expert for La Fondation Hirondelle, as well as Ayoub Dhifallah, journalist at TuniFact (Tunisia). The discussion will be moderated by our programme officer Sandra Fontaine.
Later in the day, the "Focus Niger" discussion will be held. Between 17:45 and 18:30, its aim is to review the state of journalism and media in this country. It will again bring together Alhassane Abdou-Mahamane, editor-in-chief of Studio Kalangou (our programme in Niger), Moussa Amma, journalist for Radio Anfani and editor-in-chief of the newspaper Eclosion, and Amina Niandou, president of the Association of African Women Journalists (APAC), Niger section. Ousseina Harouna, journalist for Canal 3 Niger will moderate this discussion.
