In many regions of the world, practicing journalism is becoming an increasingly complex challenge. Limited access to the field, growing insecurity, political pressure, and the scarcity of reliable sources are deeply undermining the production of independent information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of the publication of the new World Press Freedom Index<\/a>, Reporters Without Borders Switzerland <\/a>organized a bilingual roundtable discussion held in Bern on Thursday, April 30, on the theme: \u201cJournalism in Conflict Zones: Mission Impossible?\u201d<\/a>, in which Fondation Hirondelle took part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luzia Tschirky<\/strong>, former SRF correspondent in Eastern Europe, Serge Michel<\/strong> (Heidi.news), who has reported notably from Africa, Ukraine, Iran, and Afghanistan, Monika Bolliger<\/strong> (Republik), a specialist on the Middle East, as well as Sacha Meuter<\/strong>, Head of Research and Policy at Fondation Hirondelle, shared their analyses and field experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion highlighted the concrete realities of journalistic work in conflict-affected contexts, as well as the growing challenges faced by information professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
