Ousmane Sonko on trial for crimes against humanity in Switzerland

The trial of former Gambian Interior Minister, Ousmane Sonko, began on Monday 8 January before the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona. 

Ousmane Sonko is on trial for a series of events and crimes, classified as crimes against humanity, that took place between 2016 and 2000. Portrayed as the right-hand man of former president Yahya Jammeh, the former Gambian interior minister will plead not guilty. It's the second trial of this scale to take place in Switzerland and it will run until 30 January.
