On October 8, 2025, Fondation Hirondelle celebrated its 30th anniversary at the Mission of Switzerland to the European Union in Brussels.
“We are proud that Fondation Hirondelle is Swiss — a Swiss and quality product!” said Adrian Sollberger, Head of Foreign and Security Policy at the Swiss Mission to the EU, with a touch of humor. “We believe that access to trustworthy information is the oxygen of democracy.”
Several speakers shared their perspectives around the theme “Ensuring Access to Information in Fragile Contexts” before an audience of about forty guests.
Chiara Adamo, Head of Unit “Gender, Human Rights and Democratic Governance” at the European Commission, highlighted the “courageous work of journalists around the world”, emphasizing the risks inherent in this profession and the importance of supporting initiatives for the protection of journalists. “We support journalists in Myanmar and also in the Sahel with Fondation Hirondelle […]. In these context we need to rely on trusted parters” she stressed.
