Fondation Hirondelle Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary at the ICRC in Geneva

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, Fondation Hirondelle celebrated its 30th anniversary during an event co-organized with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Diplomatic Club of Geneva.

Under the theme “Ensuring Access to Reliable Information in High-Risk Contexts”, the evening was opened by Gilles Carbonnier, Vice-President of the ICRC, and Raymond Loretan, President of the Diplomatic Club. The latter emphasized the importance to broadcast reliable information to build peace.

“ Access to reliable information is not only a human necessity, it is also a diplomatic issue. It creates the conditions for dialogue, fosters mutual understanding, and reduces tensions that can fuel conflict.”

Raymond Loretan, President of the Diplomatic Club

The event was enriched by contributions from Joelle Rizk, Digital Threats Advisor at the ICRC, and Caroline Vuillemin, CEO of Fondation Hirondelle. The evening continued with testimonials from Brice Landry Ndangoui, Editor-in-Chief of Radio Ndeke Luka in the Central African Republic, and Sabra Ayres, Editorial Coach in Ukraine. Through concrete examples, they illustrated the role of the media and journalists in addressing the humanitarian needs of populations affected by crises.
