Africa

Fondation Hirondelle works to strengthen access to reliable information in several African countries. On the one hand, it supports the creation of independent production studios, which rely on a network of partner radio and television stations broadcasting their programmes nationwide. Today, Fondation Hirondelle operates in Mali (Studio Tamani), Burkina Faso (Studio Yafa), Niger (Studio Kalangou), Chad (Studio Hirondelle Tchad) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Studio Hirondelle-RDC).

In the Central African Republic (CAR), Fondation Hirondelle supports Radio Ndeke Luka, a station it created in 2000 that produces and broadcasts general-interest programmes. It is now one of the most widely listened-to radio stations in the country.

Finally, Fondation Hirondelle develops partnerships with local media outlets and organisations, including within consortiums, to support targeted training and funding initiatives for media organisations and journalists.
