The #ICForumCH on "What is peace?", highlighted the importance of transparent and accessible information, critical dialogue and trust for sustainable peace. The thematic session on “How to overcome violence”, chaired by Laurent Goetschel, Director of swisspeace, gave the chance to three organizations working in the field of dialogue and peace mediation to share their recommendations for transparent and honest communication to build trust, essential for peacebuilding and conflict transformation. Here is a quick overview of the panelist closing statements : Adam Lupel, Vice President International Peace Institute, stressed that Generative AI marks the beginning of a new era for disinformation that should be taken very seriously. Governments, media organisations, tech companies and civil society must collaborate to create a multi-layered proactive strategy to counter the spread of false information. Caroline Vuillemin, Director General of Fondation Hirondelle, highlighted that we have to be very careful with top-down narrative. Fact-based information is key to build trust between diverse stakeholders and ensure better outcomes. Strong local and independent journalism can offer spaces for inclusive and fair dialogue.
